WEST WENDOVER - Even though the 2007-08 basketball season is long gone and the spring sports are well under way, there is still much to be said about both the girls and boys basketball teams at West Wendover High.
History was made this season as scoring records were broken and double MVP honors were given to two of the Wolverine basketball standouts - Jared Lewis and Danika Sharp.
Lewis, a senior, and the sophomore Sharp were both awarded the league MVP award for the 2A South Region at the division playoffs.
The accolades do not stop there. Both players were awarded first team all-state recognition. Sharp and Lewis also broke several school and state records.
Lewis ended his high school career as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,571 points, all-time assists leader with 328 and all-time leader in steals with 242. Lewis also holds the record for most points in a game with 49 against The Meadows and 36 in the first half. He had 10 3-pointers in this game.
