Seven guns stolen from Elko apartment

ELKO - A burglar took seven guns from an Elko residence during a break-in Wednesday night at the Willows Apartments.

The incident, which occurred between 9-11 p.m., underscores the importance of securing guns inside a gun safe, not just inside a home, Elko Police Capt. Aaron Hughes said.

Guns taken include five pistols, a shotgun and a rifle.

Police are following several leads and Hughes said it is likely the burglar will attempt to sell the guns.

The guns taken include a Springfield XD40 pistol, Smith & Wesson .44 mag pistol, Smith & Wesson .357 mag pistol, Savage model 62 .22 pistol, Fans 12-gauge pump shotgun, Mauser 30.06 rifle with a Simms scope and Mauser .22 pistol.
