Casino patron allegedly tries to kill security guard

ELKO - A Bureau of Land Management firefighter from Las Vegas who was recently discharged from the East Slide Rock Ridge Fire was arrested early this morning for allegedly trying to kill a security officer at Cactus Pete's.

Christopher John Adams, 30, allegedly attacked the security officer after he was cut off from alcohol after he reportedly harassed a cocktail waitress at about 2:20 a.m., Deputy Sean Murphy said.

The security officer reportedly asked Adams to go to his room, but Adams instead allegedly attacked the security officer and put him in a choke hold, taking him to the ground, Murphy said.

Other security officers and bystanders were unable to pull Adams off of the security officer, he said.

When a deputy arrived, she discharged a Tazer twice at Adams in order to get him off of the officer, Murphy said.

" tc a security guard is an officer? Why is it then that they are always calling the cops to do the arresting in casinos? If they are officers why don't they do it them selves? They detain someone until the real police come and haul em off to jail. "

" PS. Its ironic that you shoud ask me if I have a set of brains, one brain is a brain and a set of brains is two brains! "

" Heck I can point a pencil at some1 & that's assault with a deadly weapon & possibly with intent to kill. Where does it all stop? Who knows people's intent? Not taking up 4 the guy, but cops can come out with trumped up charges, especially to screw some1 over. Not saying that's what happened here cause i was not there. Just some food 4 thought. "

" elko90210 is correct: a person's hands, or their abilities with those hands, can be called "lethal weapons". And a choke hold, held inspite of attempts to disengage the perpetrator and long enough for outside intervention to arrive, had no other purpose but to kill. Security Managers are still security officers, and no they do not carry weapons but are still considered peace officers. The gender of the deputy is irrelevant, as are smiley's "smart-reared" comments. It sounds as if both smiley and casinoman31 were present and witnessed the assault: I hope they were among the "bystanders" who tried to intervene. "

" First off it was a Securiy Manager not and officer or a guard (not sure how your title can change so much in one story) second the deputy was a male not a "she". Of course you can be charged with battery with intent to commit murder when the weapon you use is your hands. "

" SMILEY - do you actually have a set of brains or is it hollow up there?

A choke hold CAN KILL A PERSON it does not have to be with a manufactured weapon.

AND security guards are NOT peace officers they cannot carry guns "

" Intent to commit murder?? Wow!! How is this possible when he did not have deadly weapon? I thought what this guy did was assult on peace officer, since security officers are considered peace officers. Hmmm.. "
