ELKO - A Red Lion vault worker was arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly embezzling $1,200 from the casino over 18 days.
Maxie James Hansen, 22, of Elko was allegedly seen through video surveillance doing a series of suspicious actions and producing suspicious accounting documents Sept. 12-29, said Edward Yenick, deputy chief of enforcement for the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
The casino called the board to report the suspicious activity, Yenick said.
Red Lion CEO Dave Zornes was out of the office and not available for comment.
Yenick said when there is a downturn in the economy the gaming commission often sees an increase in these types of crimes.
