Ely man bound over for overdose death

ELKO - The man accused of selling prescription drugs to an 18-year-old Elko woman who died from an overdose has been bound over to Elko District Court on a murder charge.

Joshua Dean Winton, 23, of Ely was bound over to Elko District Court by Elko Justice of the Peace Al Kacin to face a charge of second degree murder. An affidavit from Elko police alleged he sold methadone, oxycodone and hydrocodone to Elkoan Jennifer Williams, who died shortly thereafter of an overdose June 25.

An autopsy performed by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office determined her overdose was from the effects of methadone, oxycodone and hydrocodone. Other drugs found in her body included alprazolam, carisoprodol and dextromethorphan.

Winton was arrested in November at Northeast Nevada Regional Hospital by an Elko County Sheriff's deputy.
